Craft Theme - Shipping Rates and Labels

A friend, who is a little ahead of me with developing her website, said that the Craft theme will have to be

upgraded (?) to calculate shipping rates and print shipping labels. Is this correct?

Any / all guidance to calculate shipping rates / print shipping labels from Craft theme would be greatly appreciated!

Printing shipping labels is done with an app, and no need to update the theme to do so. Regarding shipping rates, are you talking about the check out shipping rates? The shipping rates are calculated at checkout usually and will update base on your Shipping settings under Admin page and this does not rely on theme. Therefore, updating your theme is not necessary for this matter. 

Craft theme and other themes share the same code us Dawn theme. You can check the updates done in Dawn here.

Thank you for responding!  I'm able to calculate a shipping cost when a test order is created, but I have no idea if the rate is correct,  I still have the issue of printing the shipping label.  You mentioned that an app is needed, but I don't know what app or where to get it.  Hopefully it's free!  Not sure why Shopify would offer an eCommerce website that does not provide functionality for shipping support.
