CSV file - Invalid CSV Header: Missing Header: Title

Hi. I have a CSV file from a supplier to update their stock levels but any time I upload it I get the error message 'Missing Header: Title' - is that a problem with the suppliers CSV?

I've read many a thread on this and still can't figure it out. Is it because they've listed the title of the product as 'description'?

Also, I have their product that have variants listed under one product listing (if that makes sense) and they have each colour listed as seperate products.

Is this going to cause a problem when I upload? And should my product titles match theirs exactly for the update to work?

Thanks!

Hi!

Yes they are vastly different from what I can see, as Shopify store the content you post on your product page in each products CSV (description/info/images etc).

I would either speak to your supplier and ask if they know how to create a shopify friendly CSV

or

If you already have all of their products listed on your store, just go through and manually update them, if not, then may be worth manually adding each product one by one.

Hi!

Your best bet would be to do a dummy product export from Shopify and make sure all of the column titles in the CSV's match and if not, either manually correct them in Shopify's format or ask your supplier to format it in the way Shopify does.

You can have product variants listed as separate products if you wish, but most customers will prefer having them all on one product.

Any CSV you upload will replace what you currently have so titles will match the titles on the CSV you upload.

Hi. thanks for your suggestion. I have duplicated a product and given it a demo name.

I have then exported in both types of csv and the two types of csv look slightly different to the suppliers one.

This is a version of mine (both look the same)

This is my suppliers:

as you can see, the headers are different.

What does this mean/say?

Should the supplier need to change their file?

I have also tried changing the word 'description' to 'title' but that just created new products with no info in them.

Thanks

Hi. Thanks for clearing that up for me! Good to know it's not something I'm doing wrong.

The supplier run their store from Shopify too so you would've thought the CSV would be Shopify friendly.

It's just to update the stock numbers each day for when/if a product goes out/in of stock. Saves me checking them manually but it seems that might be my only option?

Don't suppose there's an app that would sync my stock numbers/prices with theirs?

Cheers!

No problem at all!

In that case they just need to be exporting their product list from their Shopify admin and sending it to you, as it seems they've just typed it out from what I can see.

I haven't heard of an app that does that as most stores enter their own stock amounts but there's that many apps and app developers out there that there very well could be!

No problem, happy I could help!
