Custom metafields in "Featured Collection"

Hello! 
My client sells live courses on her Shopify website. I have just added the courses as a regular product and added "date" as a metafield. Now i need that metafield (date) to display on the "Featured Collection" on the home page!
I am using the free "Sense" theme. I have attached an image of the Theme customizer. 

I can get it to display fine on the product page. 

How can i display this metafield in that section? I understand that i probably need to edit the liquid code, since i cant add a custom liquid to this specific section. Or maybe i can create a new "featured collection list" from scratch. I am profficient in HTML and CSS but not super familliar with liquid.

I'm not sure if you're able to add a dynamic input to the block settings, but I think my solution would be to hardcode it into the featured collections liquid. If you're not familiar with it, it might be best to get a shopify partner to do it
