Customized items and limit of 3 options & 100 variants

Hi, 

 

I make & sell different items customizable according to various criteria.

The number of criteria depends on the item.  

Here is the exemple of the CUSHION : 

- Option 1 : Colour : max 40 values

- Option 2 : Customized : 2 values (no / yes)

- Option 3 : Stars embroidery : 2 values (without / with)

- Option 4 : Pompoms : 2 values (without / with)

- Option 5 : Size : 3 values (30x50 / 40x60 / 45x45)

- Option 6 : Cushion filling : 2 values (without / with)

The price varies with all the options except with option 1.

 

Shopify limits the number of options to 3 and the number of variants to 100.

I need  6 options et a maximum of 1920 variants for this item.

I precise that for the other items I will need less options & variants : 6 and 1920 are the maximum values.

 

I have already asked the editor of my theme (Maestroo for Prestige) and he informed me that they were not able to go beyond the Shopify limit of 3 options & 100 variants via a development.

 

I have downloaded 2 applications :

- Globo Product Option

- King Product Options & Variant

But after several attempts, it seems (maybe I am wrong) that those apps will not completely fulfill my need or will not be fully satisfying : design different from my theme, no stock linked to the virtual options of the app, I could not find the indication of the virtual option selected in the shopping cart , ...

Maybe I have not studied enough those 2 apps ? Or not chosen the right apps ?  

 

Another possibility would be to multiply the product pages. 

This would lead to a very high number of pages given the number of options & variants available. I do not think it would be a good choice : it would not be easy for the customer to make his choice & order and I would lose the low initial price that I could have with one product page on which we would add extra cost options.

 

One last possibility I just thought about would be to create a product page for each option like as below :

- Product page A : 30 x 50 cm customized or not cushion (would take into account options 5, 1 and 2 / 80 variants. It would have been better to add the size option to this product page but with 3 sizes and 40 colours, I go beyond the 100 variants, so I have to create one product page by cushion size).

- Product page B : Stars embroidery option (that the customer can add to his shopping cart).

- Product page C : Pompoms option (that the customer can add to his shopping cart).

- Product page D : Cushion filling option (that the customer can add to his shopping cart).

This solution requires the possibility of linking product pages. Indeed, if my customer buys several cushions with several options, how will I be able to know to which cushion the option(s) applies.  

Is it technically possible ?

 

I am quite lost with these differents possibilities and need some technical & marketing help. 

Have you already encountered similar cases ?

Which solution would you recommend in my case ?

As you're aware, Shopify imposes a maximum limit of 3 options and 100 variants per product. To navigate this constraint for products exceeding these limits, utilizing a third-party app becomes essential.

I recommend incorporating the Easify Product Options app to address your specific needs 🤗:

  • Start by creating a base Cushion product with fundamental options, such as Color ( 40 choices) and Size (with variants like 30x50, 40x60, 45x45).

  • Segregate products designated as custom options for the Cushions (like Stars embroidery, Pompoms, Cushion filling), assigning each its respective price.

  • Install the app and establish a new option set that encompasses your custom options for the Cushion product. The app offers 26 distinct option display types, allowing flexibility in presenting choices. Importantly, link the option values within your set to existing products (e.g., Stars embroidery, Pompoms, Cushion filling) to incorporate additional fees and manage inventory effectively.

Example of custom options using Checkbox option type:

Note: In cases where certain custom options require additional choices (e.g., selecting a specific Pompom color or adjusting Cushion Filling based on the chosen Cushion size), we can easily configure these settings.   • Finally, integrate the option set into your relevant Cushion products. If all Cushion products share the same set of options, you can apply the option set universally.
