Dawn theme 15.2 - How do you match Thumbnail Carousel images to Pills & Product Images?

I want to connect Thumbnail carousel images to variant pill buttons corresponding to a product image of a viewed product. Clicking on the carousel image currently does nothing useful and the pills do not match back to the image. The first pill is constantly on /selected when it should be off for the Media icon. As you know, the nails show product images, as do pills, but the 3 are not linked. How do I fix this.

I can't have customers select the wrong products when ordering. I can not find a solution to this problem on YouTube or other forums.

The image shows the mismatch problem: Sweeden can be selected, but the image country pills are not linked to the correct product images. Thanks!

1) Hello, if the above linking can not be done, what is the code to remove the carousel entirely, as it serves little purpose? 2. Potentially have a product slider rather than a thumbnail carousel link to pills.
