Hi everyone! I need help with disabling auto selecting variant (colors, button select option) in Taiga theme, as indicated in the title. Currently when you click onto a product page, it will automatically select the first button/variant option as the default. I want to disable this feature. A product variant/button should only be selected after user click onto it. Any idea with how this can be done?
E.g. in the backend of this product, I have placed the picture of the pink bottle as my first picture. Hence the pink bottle is shown in the thumbnail. However, when I clicked into the product site (as in the picture), it instantly jumped to the option and picture of the first "button", i.e. green. I want the picture to stay in pink + no variant button selected after clicking into the product site, until user actively click onto a variant.
Hello @eleveportable ,
If you have a variant product then the first variant is counted as default.
And same is the reason that first variant image displays on PDP page load and first variant selected.
btw its also possible to achieve your requirement but it needs theme customization.
Thanks
I know it is the default. But is there anywhere in the code that I can disable this defaulting behavior?
Great if you know.
You can get an idea from here https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/themes-by-shopify/vintage-themes/customizing-... about the code.
Thanks! I've seen this website before and have made some code changes based on it. I half-solved the problem but just wondering where did I do wrong. I did manage to change the behavior of the picture such that it doesn't scroll to "green" picture (and stays at pink picture in the example above). However, the text and variant selector (right side of the picture) stays at "green". I am just wondering if there is any way to change this behavior such that it does not select any color in the color picker unless the user clicks any of the color...
