Discount at checkout but not off sale items

Other than doing it manually for each product, how do I create a discount off of an order that DOES NOT add a further discount to items already on sale (compare at priced items)? I offer 10% off regular priced items to students and teachers but when there is a product in the cart that's already marked down, I notice that a further 10% comes off of that sale product if I use the 10% off order discount. I have a few other issues with discounts coming off of marked down (sale) items. Thanks

I understand your frustration about the double discounts. In Shopify, discounts always apply to the price and never the compare at price. This causes a lot of confusion and hurts margins.

@BlankCanvasArt , you should be able to easily set this up with our app, Discount Bot.

Just select the "Full price items only" option and sale items will not get the order discounts. If there are any questions, please feel free to reply:
