I have transferred my third party domain to my shopify store. Do I still pay for the shopify domain name that I was given when I designed the store? If not, how can I remove the charge?

Hey, @matchaandmore! Welcome to Shopify Community!

Are you referring to the default .myshopify.com domain included in your store when you started it? If so, this domain is free so you will not be charged for it. Domain charges are only incurred when you have a paid domain. Since you transferred your third-party domain to your store, the annual fee for it will be billed through your Shopify admin from now on.

Even though you have a custom domain, the .myshopify.com URL will still be connected to your store as it serves as an account identifier. It's also used as your login credentials. That said, you can set your custom domain as the primary domain so it's the one associated with your website and visible in your store. We have a guide on how to set your domain as primary on this page.

I hope you've already set up a custom email! Having a custom email that reflects your domain is highly beneficial for your business as it establishes consistent branding and trust. If you don't have one yet, you can sign up with an email hosting platform such as Zoho Mail or Google Workspace.
