Hi. I'm new to Shopify. I understand that Shopify pay automatically deposits, which is great.
On the other hand, I understand that I need to manually withdraw paypal payments to our bank. Does the same concept apply to Google Pay or any other payment platforms (Venmo, etc.)?
Thanks!
Hi @Rinsology
I'd be happy to help you with these questions!
To clarify, PayPal is a payment gateway, an external checkout option that processes payment outside of your website directly.
Whereas Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, etc, are accelerated payment options. They allow you to save and safely use your payment details across multiple online gateways. These are more like virtual credit cards then payment gateways.
Venmo is similar, but access to Venmo will be offered through your PayPal gateway. Similar to the other accelerated checkouts, it becomes an accepted payment method through that parent gateway providing access to it.
Payments using these options will deposit the same way a standard credit card would based on your Shopify Payments (or main gateway) settings. You can see what payment methods are processed through your main gateway when you view the settings for it. Here are the supported options through Shopify Payments:
Let me know if that makes sense or if you have any other questions about gateways and accelerated checkouts on your store. You can also read more about gateway options in our Help Center here: Payments · Shopify Help Center.

Thanks, I understand.
Just to confirm that I understand this: Paypal is the only method that requires manual transfer to my bank - all other methods I'm using should be on automatic deposit by default.
Would you agree with that statement?
That sounds correct! Most payment gateways will automatically deposit into the connected bank account.
