I'm currently investigating Shopify as being a potential solution for our business. I'm currently looking into generating and collecting CC tokens. With Shopify being such a big platform; I'm surprised I haven't been seeing any information on this subject. A lot of businesses, especially B2B businesses -- do not necessarily process authorizations or captures at time of order placement... We need a means to be provided a credit card token (along with stub information which I see Shopify does offer through the API) that we can setup in our ERP to authorize and capture against.
For our business we authorize at time of shipment and capture at time of invoicing; all handled within our ERP.
Can someone confirm if this isn't currently possible or if there are any plans to achieve this?
Thanks,
Andy
I'm not sure if you're able to change the time the payment is authorized, but you can wait to capture at a later date if you want to. I found this page in Shopify's help center with more information: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/get-paid#:~:text=From%20the%20Shopify%20app%20%2C%20tap,ap....
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Unfortunately that's not good enough and we need to be provided CC tokens; otherwise the only way Shopify could work for us as a solution is to manually call all customers for credit card information over the phone. We need to control the authorization amount and when it happens within our ERP.
@AndyJA I have the same need for the tokenization for charging our B2B customers on order ship, not on order placement. Did you find any answers or fixes?
Negative. I ended up building a WooCommerce website. Has everything I need for cheap.
For my situation this plugin worked great for getting the tokens I need:
I am also looking for something similar, where shopify can give us CC tokens via APIs which we can use across various Modules / apps in shopify.
Also, there has to be a way where customer can come shopify platform and update their CC which is then available to us via APIs and then we can synchronize it internally.
I recommend looking into WooCommerce. That's what I went with. For my situation this plugin worked great for getting the tokens I need:
