I have been on and off with shopify support. I paused my account a while ago and came back to see my domain was no longer connected. When attempting once I change the CNAME, Type A and TXT on my dns provider, and click verify it says success and that it may take 48 hours to update the domain. Then when I refresh it says
.....com.au couldn't be connected because the store is frozen.
I have paid all fees and I have no outstanding balance. I have contacted shopify support, they escalated it and they have not responded. Is there any fix or workaround?

You are in the right track by contacting support because they can further check this on their end. It will take some time but, you will definitely receive a resolution. You just need to follow up your case as well from time to time. Give them around 3 business days before creating a follow up.
