Domain Validation - Adding Apple Pay Through Stripe On Shopify 2024

Hello everyone,

I have difficulties with Apple Pay activation on my store.

For payment processor I have Stripe on the shopify store.

Don't know where to upload "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.file" on shopify.

This is needed to verify my store domain with Apple Pay.

Is there any directory to upload a file on Shopify?

Trying to follow below steps from Stripe to set up Apple Pay.

Hi there,

I understand you're looking for a place to add the 'Stripe verification file' on your website, in order to verify your store domain with Apple Pay, as advised by Stripe. I can confirm that this 'Stripe verification file' addition is not required for Shopify merchants as we take care of this for you.

Instead, Apple Pay can be enabled directly within your Shopify Admin > Settings > Payments. To verify whether Apple Pay is appearing at checkout for your online store, a test checkout process can be completed from any compatible iOS device.

For more information on Apple Pay compatibility with Shopify, please refer to our help center guide here: Shopify Help Center | Apple Pay

This is fairly common for some reason, where Stripe directs store owners to add this verification file for Apple Pay, but it's not something that you have to do on Shopify. Feedback has been provided to Stripe to let them know that this specific process is not something required/supported by Shopify, however, you can simply ignore these setup steps provided by Stripe as they do not apply to Shopify stores at this time.

Good evening!
What if we are unable to save this setting in the Shopify Admin > Settings > Payments? I was advised the same from Stripe after extensive troubleshooting. Apple Pay is showing active on our Stripe dashboard, however when we try to enable it in Shopify settings, it continues to bounce back without allowing us to save the settings.

Also for added context, we did not have any issues with Apple Pay/Stripe until two days ago. Thanks!

Simply not true. Merchants here have stripe enabled on shopify, but the apple pay toggle button is "OFF". And once turned on you get an error that settings could not be saved.

This issue has persisted for years already, so lets state the fact that Apple Pay and Stripe does not go on shopify currently.

Only if you have Shopify Payments enabled, then Apple Pay will work. I wonder why...
