E-cards for Christmas - editable by purchaser

Hi folks - is anyone using Shopify itself to add the customisation to an e-greeting card?  I'm trying to work out how to do this; add a design, with an editable field, and get Shopify to apply the edit. But I have a feeling I can't do this... 

What options are you using to create editable e-cards that you sell on your shops please? Ideas, tips, hints etc welcome. Thanks

We actually just released and app that does all this for you.  You can also upload your own artwork to create your own e-greeting card.
