I want to edit my template. My shopify store is live on my URL but access is prevented with the password which I want left in place at the moment as still putting final touches to store before launch. When I click customise template I can only get to the password page and not the homepage behind! I would be very grateful of an answer thanks
Hello @saucepan
If you have set up a password for your Shopify store and are unable to access the homepage or customize your template, there are a few things you can do:
Bypass the password page: To access the homepage and customize your template without entering the password, you can use the direct URL for the theme editor. Instead of accessing it through the Shopify admin, you can try entering the following URL in your browser:
https://your-store-url.myshopify.com/admin/themes/current?key=template
Replace "your-store-url" with the actual URL of your Shopify store. This URL will bypass the password page and take you directly to the theme editor. Keep in mind that you need to be logged in to your Shopify admin account for this to work.
Disable the password temporarily: If you prefer to access your homepage and customize the template without using the direct URL, you can temporarily disable the password protection for your store. Here's how:
Once the password protection is disabled, you should be able to access the homepage and customize your template without entering a password. Remember to re-enable the password protection once you're done with the final touches and ready to launch your store.
Use a different browser or incognito mode: If you're still facing issues accessing the homepage or customizing the template, try using a different browser or open an incognito/private browsing window. Sometimes, browser extensions or cached data can interfere with accessing certain pages, and using a different browser or incognito mode can help bypass those issues.
If none of the above solutions work, I recommend reaching out to Shopify support for further assistance. They will be able to provide more specific guidance and help resolve any access issues you're facing with your store's template.
