Hi all,
I recently registered my new domain through Shopify and have set up Zoho as my mail provider.
When I try and add the required MX records to my domain I receive the following error:
"Email forwarding is not allowed for this domain"
Any help is much appreciated!
i face same issue
Having same issue. Did this ever resolve itself for you?
No not yet.
I spoke with support and they said it was an issue with a recent upgrade to their domain server. They told me to try again today, but I still haven’t had any luck with it
Thanks for the quick response. I'll let you know if anything changes on my end.
Same issue here - 2 days passed by today.
Same we littery pay this company a **bleep** ton while they dont even have this in place for love of god
They have it in place, however there seems to be an issue with it according to the helpdesk. I haven't been able to resolve this yet. No updates from them either.
Alright let me know if you find something out
I'm facing the same issue guys. I cannot validate the MX-records of Zoho in my Shopify domain settings. I'd be glad to hear if someone has a solution for this!
The solution would be if we all start spamming live chat with the same issue maybe then they will wake up
I agree! Very annoying..
It's beceause Starting December 2024, the Email Hosting & Forwarding feature has been disabled for all new domain purchases.
No more information by the team yet
This is what I was told on 12/22...
15:25 Manuel R (Support Advisor): I appreciate your patience as I looked into this. After connecting with our specialized team, I learned that our domain host is performing server maintenance today. This is leading to some unexpected issues that we’re working to resolve.
15:26 Manuel R (Support Advisor): This maintenance is scheduled for today, and everything should be back to normal by tomorrow.
I'm having the very same issue, I cannot add any MX record nor setup third-party email hosting (Google Workplace).
Very annoying, I wish I had bought the domain on Google Workplace instead...
Talking to shopify support right now, I will update all of you!
😃
Did they come back with anything?
I have the same issue with Google Workspace.. do you have a solution?
Same issue right here with Google workspace
Any update ?
No update until now!
I have an update. After talking to somebody using Shopify Support, I received a reply saying that my issue was fixed, and I just added the MX record without any error.
In summary, get in contact with Shopify Support, they will try to fix it, if they can't, they will open an internal ticket and then fix it.
Merry Christmas guys!
Thank you for the update! I will contact Shopify Support, just via the chat correct?
Merry Christmas!
Same for me.
I am experiencing the same problem.
I have been chatting with support for an hour and they aren't even aware of the issue. I can add the TXT manually, but the MX is displaying the same error. Nobody in support appears to know how to add a record from their end, or they aren't allowed to.
Hey guys,
They had to escalate my case to technical support. They were ultimately able to solve my issue, however the did confirm that this feature was “removed”.
sonit you’re facing the same issues contact support so they can enable it for your domain.
I quoted Rocketr in my chat to them and they confirmed. See below…
08:47 AQ: "Starting December 2024, the Email Hosting & Forwarding feature has been disabled for all new domain purchases."
Yarii (Support Advisor): Yep, that is correct, there was a recent update on Shopify's end. So, what will happen is that, our Technical Team will re-enable the Email Hosting & Forwarding feature for you.
08:57 Yarii (Support Advisor): this change was made as part of an update to streamline services and improve overall performance. However, I recognize that this has created challenges for many users, including yourself. Rest assured, I have noted your request for an urgent update with our Technical Team, and they are aware of the importance of resolving this matter quickly. While I can't provide a specific timeline for when the feature will be re-enabled, I encourage you to keep an eye on your inbox for any updates from them.
Yarii (Support Advisor): As of now, there hasn't been a definitive announcement regarding whether Shopify will re-enable the Email Hosting & Forwarding feature for all new domains in the future. The recent update appears to be part of a broader change, and while the Technical Team is working on resolving specific cases, but yep, this feature will be re-enabled back soon. Our team is just updating this for a better and efficient way.
have they re-enable the feature for you yet ?
no more update or information about it yet on my side.
Shopify created an internal ticket for me, but no further update.
Same I’ve got the same issue they escalated my situation 2-3 days ago still nothing
don't worry, they fixed the problem for me
Shopify fixed the issue for me!
My case was also escalated to more experienced technical support. Long-story-short they're working on a platform level fix for this, so it's going to require a fix, testing, and a major unscheduled deployment. So here's what I did... Change you Shopify name servers to use CloudFlare, and then host all your DNS entries there. If you do this make sure you take a backup or some screenshots of all the entries in your Shopify DNS, and be prepared to change a few things to make it work correctly. This is super tricky if you have a site that's already live. I'm guessing a lot of the people in this thread are building new sites - it's less risky to do this if this is the case. If you're not that familiar with how DNS work, find someone who can help so you don't have downtime. Once you're using the nameservers on CloudFlare (completely free), you'll have access to a lot more reliable and advanced features. Hope this helps!
Hello there! 😃
I'm not here to send a solution but to give caution.
That prompt, "Email forwarding is not allowed for this domain," led me to buy another domain since the first one I bought was a ".store." I thought the problem might be because it is a ".store." domain so I could not add a forwarding Email address. Because of that, I ended up buying a ".com" domain, and turns out that the same prompt still pops out.
So, my caution for everyone is not to try to fix it yourself because it costs me some money. But then the good thing is that those domains last for a year.
Hope this message helps and hope as well that Shopify will be able to fix the problem. 🙏
