Hi friends, we're migrating our website from one Shopify store to a developer sandbox and have successfully migrated the theme and products.
Unfortunately, NONE of the images (social icons, logos, lifestyle photos) came over, and there doesn't appear to be any way to download our images.
Is there a way to export our image library? Or do we need to literally go through each photo, one by one, and download them?
Thank you!
(Also, if the latter is the answer...SHOPIFY PLEASE FIX THIS)
This is so simple to accomplish, it's obvious Shopify isn't doing for malicious reasons that, most probably, has to do with 'the bottom line '.
Just wanted to add that this extension helped in my case, might be useful.
Yes, please. I have to copy and paste the image links to my product spreadsheets. Then a copy message pops up and covers the file name. Making it difficult to transfer to the correct line with speed.
If I could have a button to download all image file links with a spreadsheet. Then copy the links in bulk and carry them over, that would be nice?
Hi @BarterLoops @geekdidi @ut_er @MIPO
We created a free Shopify app that allows you to download all your files in one click, compressed to a zip archive.
It's called Filey, check it out.
Feel free to reach me out with a feedback, or functionality requests.
Leaving a review is much appreciated.
Does it export video files, as well?
Hey Gina. Yes, Filey app exports videos as well
What an absolute star. I was just about to try and write a tool to use the new File API to download and then re-upload everything between two stores, but it would have required quite a lot of work and I would have been annoyed while I was writing it (beacuse this basic functionality is missing to begin with!)
Just used your app on our store - 1422 files, 768MB zip file, and it worked fine. 🙂
Will do a review shortly 🙂
Just a heads up that attempting to download your app today resulted in a DNS not found error. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Hello @Enderon
Thank you for pointing this out. We were updating Filey at a moment, and it works like a charm now!
Thank you!! @mashkovtsev !! I just left a review for your app - here it is below.
I hope everyone keeps banging on Shopify about supporting this functionality as part of their platform. It's ridiculous that they do not! And, even though your app is great, what we really need is for Shopify to fully support download/upload/renaming files, etc.
In the meantime, thanks so much!!

--- my posted app review ---
Thanks so much for making an app to do what Shopify should be doing for us as an included part of their platform! Everyone should tell Shopify this is a required functionality they need to implement. ——— In the meantime - I learned about your app via the Shopify support thread, where you posted a comment about your new app created to help us. Thank you! I downloaded your app and it has a single button -- "download files". 🙂 I clicked the button and it appears that all of my files have been downloaded. From a random check, I don't see any missing files. ——— The reason I gave you 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had to click the button many times before it worked. Each time I clicked, the page would either (1) show the start of the download progress bar and then refresh without finishing, or (2) refresh without doing anything. Each time I ended up back on the app page with the button. So, I clicked it multiple times (maybe 6 or 7 times?) and finally, the progress bar stayed there and in less than a minute all of my files were downloaded. I have 378 downloaded files, for a total of about 60MB, so it was very quick. ——— I wanted to explain that I had to click the button so many times so others would know that finally worked for me. Oh, I'm using Chrome Thanks so much for making an app to do what Shopify should be doing for us as an included part of their platform! Oh, I'm using Chrome v102.0.5005.61 on my Mac running Montery v 12.4. Don't know if that has anything to do with the issue I had? ——— Again, thanks for this app! It fills a hole left by Shopify. ——— cheers, c-
How did you download the product images? Not thumbnails?
Its been 4 years from the time someone asked that and shopify has done nothing for that. Same for developers they actually do nothing for us, if someone make another website same shopify i will go on it, they don't care about the people who make live their **bleep** website, remember without us, you are nothing
Windo, you can use a Shopify app called Matrixify. I've been using this app for years & it is by far the best app for import/export. You can download all your files including video using this app. It has a modest price to perform the tasks you need, but you can keep it on the free demo plan when not in use. Their CS is top notch. Tell them Gina sent you.
Thanks Alex! Will share with our team!
Thanks for making that app, i appreciate, i will use it.
I have to say thanks to the community, without the community Shopify doesn't exist.
Hi all,
As everybody here I had the same issue. I ve found an APPLI called "Hextom: Bulk Product Edit" which do the job. It has a lot of other functions like change inbatch mode pricec, tag, title and a lot more. The price is ridiculous 9$ monthly. Using it with satisfaction since momre than 2 years. Help yourself. I have also seen an appli giving access to the datamodel (never tried/tested). Cheers. B rgds . Thierry Cricketco.be
