Every time I go to edit my theme —-> then go to edit a specific product within my theme I get this error. It only started happening today, I’m pretty sure this is due to last night I made a lot of modifications and might have messed up the code but I have no idea how to fix it or even how to troubleshoot this code. Any help would be appreciated

Hey, @Keeveng!

This is Moira from the Social Care team at Shopify. Thanks for posting!

I understand you have made some theme modifications that have caused a liquid error on your storefront. You've definitely posted in the right place! I'm more than happy to look into this for you. Shopify knows that errors are just human nature, so we have provided a way to undo changes made to a code file in your theme over time.

In case you have errors in your Liquid code, the first thing to do is to read the error documentation carefully to determine which file and on which line the error occurred. If you look at the “Failed to Load Page” message in the image above, you are unable to detect where the error occurred. In other words, some errors are not very expressive. In these cases, it is up to you to remember the files you modified when you were making your changes. If you feel lost, make sure to take a screenshot of the information provided on the "view documentation" page. Then post it here in the Shopify community where experts, are always ready to help you.

If you can identify the file or line where the error occurred, we can move on to the next steps:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  • Find the theme you want to edit, and then click Actions > Edit code.

  • Click on one of the files (under the relevant folder) in which you want to undo changes.

  • Click Older versions next to the file name

  • Click the drop-down menu to select an older version. Clicking a date stamp will roll the code back to that saved version. If you remember when you made the changes, you can return to the state of the file before your changes.

  • If you remember when you made the changes, you can return to the state of the file before your changes. Finally, don't forget to hit the green save button!

Note: Although the method applied here is effective in undoing your changes, the best way to protect yourself is to always back up your theme before making any changes.

Tip: As you continue to customize your theme, it’s a good idea to make design and content choices that help to keep your online store accessible. I suggest taking a look at this guide for tips on providing an inclusive experience for your customers.

If you have any questions please feel free to thread those below.

Cheers!

Hey @lprestoza,

This error tends to be related to an app you have installed! Do you have the Geolocation app by chance?

Please check the list of apps you have recently installed and deactivate them to see which one is causing the conflict.

Hello @Moira

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding an issue I'm experiencing with my newly created Shopify store. I have successfully set up my account and created the store; however, I'm encountering a problem with an app named "Email."

The issue I'm facing is that I'm unable to proceed with any actions related to this app. I've attempted to refresh the page several times as suggested, but unfortunately, the problem persists.

Here are the details of the apps currently installed in my Shopify store:

The specific error message I'm receiving is as follows:
