Feature Request: Simplifying Free Product Orders

We frequently send out free products to influencers, media, and customers needing replacements/missed items using Draft Orders. However, our employees often forget to create and apply a 100% discount and instead just mark the order as "Paid." This results in inaccurate accounting.

Question: My developer is telling me there is absolutely no way to add a button on the Draft Order page that automatically creates and applies a one-time 100% discount and adds a tag like "Influencer Seeding" or "Replacement." All I’m asking for is a simple button that applies this discount and allows the user to select a reason for it being free. Is this possible?

If not, Shopify, please consider adding this feature. There must be a need for it—I can’t be the only one facing this issue.

Worth a shot to ask but honestly I can't see this being added in as a feature, adding extra buttons muddies the UI for the majority of people that don't need it.

Couple of ideas to improve your workflow:

1) Give a step by step list for the people managing these, tell them to follow the steps, highlight the importance of the discount.

2) In those steps, include them to add a tag to the order. Then once a week / month or whenever you want to make sure things are squared up, filter those tagged orders and confirm that the discount was applied, if not, unarchive the order, discount it, then close it again.

I used to run a store, we gave free clothes to influencers, this the system we used.

Having those 2 steps at least gives you a chance to catch the errors.

Nice looks like a good solution to me. 👍

@BriOz84 I would give that app a try, there's a free plan to try it out, if it solves your problem you may be able to eliminate errors + move your staff to other productive tasks.
