Hi there,
I have enabled enhanced conversion on our store. Installed the GTAG and script in the theme.liquid file. However it is stating the following message
(Your current GTM/API enhanced conversions method is not supported. Only GTAG is supported.)
Please can anyone advise where to look to resolve this? I've cross compared it against our other store, and i cannot find any differences.
Thanks
Hi healthystuff,
Thanks for your query.
Could you please share your website URL? i would love to check and debug.
To track the enhanced ecommerce tracking like user phone and email you must have a data layer event and event data.
The best way to configure enhanced ecommerce tracking is by using google tag Manager.
Configuring GTM tracking consists of 4 major steps:
1. Configuring datalayer in custom pixel for standard ecommerce events like (view item, add to cart, checkout and purchase)
2. Datalayer variables for enhanced ecommerce tracking(value, currency, transaction ID, phone, email and so on)
3. trigger for the events
4. creating event tag for each event using google ads conversion tag template and assigning the variables and trigger
Further more you can configure server side tracking /conversion API for the maximum accuracy and consistency.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Thanks
Hi there,
Thank you so much for responding!

This is the URL, I've checked via Google Tag Manager and its not evening firing on the checkout page neither. So does it need to be set as a custom event? Any direction would be appreciated 🙂
Thanks!
Just to further a note to this. We already have a custom event set up in GTM as a purchase. But the Tag isn't even firing on the checkout pages. I've placed the tag in the head on the theme.liquid template. I've even tried firing it in the post purchase admin settings but to no avail.
The checkout page has no connection with theme.liquid file.
If you want to connect GTM with the thank you page you must have a custom datalayer just like i provided a picture of the custom pixel.
only through custom datalayer in custom pixel can connect thank you page to track the purchase event with all event data.
As custom pixel work in sandbox environment you can not preview the tag firing status in GTM.
I have mentioned 4 major steps to be taken to track the purchase and a Chrome extension to preview the container and verify the tag firing status.
Kind Regards.
HI, do you have a full tutorial or reference for this. I have just set up the custom pixel, however the code appeared to be cut off (screenshot) that you sent 😄 Thanks!
Unfortunately, I have no tutorial, as I created this datalayer and configure the whole setup by myself.
The code is very long approximately 600 lines of coding and not possible to manage in a single window
These are technical process to go through. It would be better to hire someone will definitely save your time and effort.
Kind Regards
