It seems GA4 can't track the exact or almost purchases and revenue of my Shopify store. I used three different ways to install the GA4 on my Shopify store, and none of the ways can exactly track the purchases and revenue of my Shopify store.
1. First, I installed the GA4 tag by adding the gtag codes to my theme.liquid and add the additional codes to the checkout, it can track purchases and revenue, but much less than my exact date.
2. Then I used the GTM to deploy the GA4 tag (after deleting the codes in the first method), also installed extra codes in the checkout settings, this time only purchases count, no revenue was tracked.
3. Finally, I installed the official Google App as a sales channel and connected to my GA4 property and date dream. This time the GA4 can track the purchases and revenue, almost to the exact purchases and revenue in Shopify, but still less than the exact date. Like daily Shopify sales revenue is 10K USD, but GA4 cannot only tracked 8K.
Does anyone know what is wrong
Having the same issue!
Same for me.
If GA4 is directly connected to Shopify, shouldn't it be possible for your store to send the exact amount of purchases to GA? Why does Shopify not just connect its own analytics and shares it?
I don't get it.
I see the Google sales channel app is developed by Shopify, don't know why Shopify doesn't fix it.

I matched transactions from GA Universal and GA4 and found the missing orders. No answer from shopify why they are missing.
Also UA in my shopify install includes tax and shipping in REVENUE used by google ads, but GA4 does not. This will impact the marketing program.
GA4 has purchase revenue (no tax & shipping) and ecommerce revenue which is supposed to include tax and shipping but does not. Anyone else ru n into that during reconciliations?
Anyone else holding off on cut-over because of Shopify developed integration to GA4?
I am having endless problems with google analytics which I won't start to go into but I noticed the exact same thing - that in GA4 there appears to be no way to see the total revenue figure (all the various revenue figues in GA4 are the same - ie product cost only).
I believe that the shopify tags are set up incorrectly but I cannot get anyone at shopify to take any interest - they just refer you to google analyics help - and google say it's down to the tags, so it's shopify's issue.
I'm surprised not to see more complaints about this though because it makes comparing historic data impossible as I can't compare like with like - which is even more problematic when trying to analyse performance of marketing campaigns, ads etc. I'm also experiencing huge discrepancies in data in GA compared to shopify in multiple stores since May - and when i am looking at a report of the transactions - it's difficult to cross refer because i can't use the order values as shopify and google don't match, and also because shopify also unhelpfully sends checkout ID instead of order ID for the transaction more often than not.
I'm going through the same hell as all of you. Can't get revenue to match using the Shopify GA4 integration across any of our accounts. Fingers crossed Google and Shopify get there shit together and resolve this
One thing to check is if revenue includes tax and shipping. My UA account DOES and GA4 does NOT. + missing orders impact tieout GA to Shopify. It's a nasty migration and feel for anyone not doing the due diligence. Also channel grouping issues and conversions flowing to Google ads! Check your attribution in GA4 admin.
Yes, the fact there appears to be no way to see the the revenue including shipping and taxes is crazy - and also means it's much more time consuming to do comparisons.
That's the main reason why I am using the number of transactions/orders as evidence that orders are missing in GA (latest figures indicate that GA is only picking up about 60% of orders) so this is the priority for fixing but I'd really like an accurate revenue figure as well - to be honest I'd just like to have accurate data like I used to have - is that too much to ask?!
Yeah I can confidently say that tax and shipping doesn't get applied in GA4 but even the number of sales don't align. I'm wondering if it's the way that shopify analytics counts data compared to GA4?
what accuracy % of total purchases and revenue do you have in GA4 compared to Shopify? Cause I seeing same issues, and sometime accuracy is about 90% sometime is 50%
Across most stores accuracy is around 55-65% since mid May. Up until early May accuracy was roughly 95%
exactly for me..problem started mid may..shopify support is not helpfull
We have the same problem.
The sale revenue always is not match. And the purchase is much more than my real order.
Having the same problem.
Hi Shengwen,
Try to set up conversion tracking through Google Tag Manager GTM. Setup server side tracking with first party domain/subdomain. this tracking technology bypass all the ad blocker, IOS ITP, cookie blocking browsers. This is proven method for maximum data accuracy . Recommended by Google and facebook.
Thanks
I went through the same exact steps. No matter what I do can't seem to get GA/GA4 and Shopify Analytics to match. Lots of missing transactions in GA4. Accuracy is 50%.
My client had the same issue and i fixed it for them. It is a custom service that you have to contact a Shopify expert.

I have GA4 tag installed on my site, and I also have the Shopify native Google app on. When I am in Tag Manager, it tells me the Shopify Tag is not sending any info, whereas my GA4 tag is. Do I need to install a tag for the Shopify native App? I'm confused because I don't want to count conversions twice, so I was trying to understand if I needed to get rid of my GA4 tag and just rely on the Shopify native Google app integration to feed data to GA4. Can anyone shed light on this dilemma for me? Bottom line: If the native Shopify Google integration already does what my GA4 tag does, don't I want to delete the GA4 tag from my site?
HI SDsteven,
Are still you having the same issue?
I would love to check and debug if you share your website URL.
Thanks
Any updates on this? My client is having the same issue, GA4 reports are inaccurate and don't match the shopify analytics reports. Iwent through the Tag manager installation and all seems to be well set up. The revenue does not match, the number of users and devices does not match, the number of purchases does not match; it is receiving data but it is just inaccurate. Any official solutions to this from Shopify?
