I am quite new to Shopify and am not getting any traffic to the website apart from what I am generating myself through Instagram. I am trying to better my SEO and site visibility on Google so as part of that am trying to verify my ownership on Google search console.

I have followed the instructions adding:

<head>
<meta name="google-site-verification=Nsz5aNmM3-3v8Sf63zws_mI4o6kIpyLPR723UKuyizw" />

to theme.liquid  but its not working I am just getting this:

Can anyone help me?

Thank you so much

Hi @Dogsden,

I'll be happy to help with this problem. From the images you provided, it should be an easy fix.

You have correctly inserted the Google verification code into your website, which is great. However, when you are verifying the website, you are selecting the incorrect verification method.

You need to select the option to verify your site using the HTML (meta) tag, not the "domain name provider" option. When you select the correct option, Google will check your website for the HTML code you inserted, and should accept the code.

I hope this gets you verified so you can access Google search console!
