Liquid, JavaScript, themes, sales channels
Hello Shopify devs,
I'm facing an issue with setting up a Google Merchant Center feed for my Shopify store. My store is built with Plasmic and uses the Shopify API on a headless site to pull the products in.
The problem I'm encountering is that Google Merchant Center is not accepting my site's domain (www.rewindphotolab.com.au) due to the .myshopify URL still being retained within the Shopify platform.
When I use the Google app in Shopify to check the site claim, I get an error saying "Your domain is already claimed by a different account. Click below to transfer the domain claim." However, clicking 'Transfer my domain' does not work.
In the Merchant Center, when I set the site to the true URL (www.rewindphotolab.com.au), it works initially but then reverts back to the .myshopify URL and gives an error.
I want to run Google Shopping ads that sync with my Shopify products using the correct domain. Is there a workaround for this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
This means you already have a Google Merchant Center account active. It is recommended to avoid creating multiple accounts.
If you can not find the original account, check your other email addresses.
If all fails, and you can absolutely not find the original account, then you have no other choice but to claim it on the new account. Be warned this may trigger a suspension.
To proceed, simply verify and claim the website url in the account, which you will need to do twice, meaning click twice on verify claim because the first one will be a warning, then the second one will allow you to do so.
Also make sure you claim rewindphotolab.com.au not with www.
Unfortunately this is what happens:
1. Set merchant to rewindphotolab.com.au
2. In shopify google app, checking site claim...
3. Now back in merchant center, the URL has reverted to this
Transferring does not work because it trying to claim the .myshopify.com url and not the true url or rewindphotolab.com.au
Is there something else I'm missing here?
Make sure your Shopify account has the correct domain, most likely you have not setup your default domain yet. Check your settings > domain
If I set my shopify domain to rewindphotolab.com.au then the site will point to the shopify site and not my plasmic headless cms site hosted elsewhere?
I honestly do not really understand what or why you want to do what you are trying to do. As I have never heard of a situation like yours.
But, regardless why your are doing it, the solution would be to use an app such as: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds
Which allows you to set the domain to be different from what the domain is set in Shopify.
