Google Search Console - Excluded by 'noindex' tag

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me on this.  I appear to have a new issue which I've not seen before.  It appears when I look at Google Search Console on my https://websitename.com.  I'm seeing Page Indexing issues under "Excluded 'noindex' tag.  These issues start in late Sept and go into Oct.  They appear on products (some which I recognise as new products I added) and collections. I note they all refer to ~ /custom/web-pixel-shopify-custom-pixel@0220/sandbox/modern/ ~ in the url.  For example:

https://www.websitename.com/wpm@c3421179wde532104pe70d9b14m030ede8e/custom/web-pixel-shopify-custom-...

https://www.websitename.com/wpm@c3421179wde532104pe70d9b14m030ede8e/custom/web-pixel-shopify-custom-...

Bearing in mind that I am not technical, can anyone tell me whether I need to be concerned about this or whether to ignore it?  If I need to do something, could you give me an indication of what?  Thanks very much i

Hello @Olive_McKillop1

  • You see "Excluded: 'noindex' tag" errors in Google Search Console for product and collection URLs containing "~ /custom/web-pixel-shopify-custom-pixel@0220/sandbox/modern/ ~" in the path.
  • These URLs likely don't contain actual content for users to see, but are part of Shopify's internal tracking mechanism.
  • Google Search Console identifies them as excluded due to a "noindex" tag, which instructs search engines not to index the page.
  • You likely don't need to be concerned. These URLs are not meant to be seen by users and shouldn't affect your website's ranking in search results.
  • These URLs might have always been there, but Google Search Console recently started reporting them.
  • Since they're new products and collections, the "noindex" tag might have been added during their creation.
  • You can safely ignore these errors.
  • If they clutter your Search Console report and you want to hide them, you can use the "Filters" option to exclude "Excluded" status.
