Google Search Console - Sitemap Can't Fetch

Hello,

Our sitemap is returning this error  - Can't fetch ; with additional information  ' Sitemap cannot be read'.

Can someone share insight into how to fix this.

Hello there!

The reason why Google Search Console is likely because of any manual error in sitemap URL or GSC property mismatch.

Or another possible reason can be that your store was password-protected when Google checked the sitemap.

Try these steps:

- Make sure you've set up GSC property with the following URL prefix: https://honeyhiveworkshop.myshopify.com/

- Make sure your Shopify store is not password protected and is accessible publicly.

- Submit the sitemap.xml file again.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

We have checked and the account is not password protected, the account has been Google verified with the HTML tag, we have checked for a property mismatch, cleared all caches, resubmitted the sitemap,  re-watched the Shopify Sitemap help video and we are still received the same error. The site can be indexed as checked on GSC and when we contacted Shopify help they told us to contact Google.

We were hoping for a possible different solution from this Technical board. Please let us know if you can determine another fix.

Based on this thread, I can say that there is nothing wrong with your Shopify sitemap. It is just Google that has not actually got time to process it. I suggest you to wait and try again after a few days. (If there is any error/issue while processing the sitemap, Google will specifically mention it.)
