I have a custom domain, registered with another registrar. I use the non-www version of the domain as the main domain, and have the www. version as a secondary under "domains" is settings, redirecting to the non-www version of the domain.
If you do a search for some keywords relevant to my website, my site shows up in the Google search results properly (as a sponsored link! even though I am not buying google ads for it), with the correct website description underneath.
BUT, if you search for just the right string, the www. version of the domain sometimes shows up - which is normally fine, since it simply redirects to the non-www version, BUT the site description shows SHOPIFY's generic web site description instead of mine.
What this means is that for some reason Shopify is delivering some sort of HTML meta tag website description with the redirect that is incorrect and also has a sponsored ad running somehow.
How can I fix this?
You can see the issue here in the photo - the first result is the "wrong" listing, the second one is the correct listing.
@mactac use robot.txt
User-agent: * Disallow: / Host: yourdomain.com
maybe its works for you
Thank you
I'm not sure I understand how that would work to remove a sponsored ad that seems to be coming from Shopify?
