Hi.
I am fairly new to the Shopify platform and wanted to check the options in case I want to set up some custom logic (i.e. making API requests to some external partner) when a new order is created.
As I have figured out there are different options out there:
- using webhooks
- creating custom apps (only possible for Shopify partners?)
- using Shopify Flow
- Shopify scripts (available on the Shopify Plus plan)
Do you have any suggestions, which method would be the best to solve my problem? I think that both webhooks and Shopify Flow aren't that flexible in the current case, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there are some other options out there that I am not aware of.
Best Regards,
rasponien
Hi Rasponien,
In my opinions, you have to create a custom apps that integrate with Webhooks. That combination will allows you to do anything you want while Shopify Flow have some limits, and Shopify scripts will be deprecated from Aug 2024.
Regards,
Thanks for your reply.
But for that, do I have to become Shopify Partner? I mean, I just want to customize my shop and add an integration to send API requests to some external partners based on some predefined Shopify events. I don't want to become an app developer now. Maybe I misunderstood your answer.
Hi,
I understand the situation, so I think using Shopify Flow is suitable for your case. Shopify Flow has limits but it can meet your requirements, just try it first.
