Will HEIC image format be supported soon?

Any word on if HEIC images will be supported anytime soon?

Alternatively is there a quick conversion technique out there for modifying large quantities of HEIC photos?

Try Cloud Convert https://cloudconvert.com/heic-to-png You can upload the heic's and download the PNG's.

In your camera settings on your iPhone, change your format to ‘most compatible’ so they save as jpegs instead. Not sure this will help with pics you’ve already taken.

How can I upload pics when they are in HEIC format?????  It is extremely frustration that the iPhone changes the pic extension and now shopify will not allow me to upload, nor have I been able to successfully save it to one of the other acceptable extensions.  PLEASE SOMEONE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE.

You can upload HEIC (and WebP) directly into the Shopify admin, see: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/images/theme-images#image-formats

Great to see that heic images can now be uploaded, but it's a shame that product image editor cannot crop them. When you try and crop a heic file, it looks as if it cropped fine but refresh the product page in the admin after closing the editor and the image is unchanged. Is there a plan to fix this? or can the cropped image be saved out as a jpeg?

@bristlebird You should be able to crop HEIC source images now, please let me know if this is now working for you. Thanks!
