Hide example products for an empty featured product collection

Hello, I'm trying to create a page that pulls in products from a collection. Often, there will be no items in the collection. The page works fine, but I noticed that it automatically populates the page with example products if none are active at the time. Is there a way to hide these and display a message to check back later? I'm using the Ride theme. Link to page: https://ohiocardexchange.com/pages/upcoming-live-breaks
