Homepage 2.0 Video section is not playing

I am using Homepage 2.0 theme. It allows me to add a Video section to the Home Page, and when I do, I see on the right sidebar that the youtube video link is retrieved successfully, but it won't play in the shopify preview, and it also won't play on the site.

I can verify that the video is public, and embedding is allowed.

 

How can I get this to work?

Hey there, @biomurph! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums today with your Dawn question, and this video playing situation! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

 

Dawn's most recent version is 15.0.2 so any versions previous to that may be 'outdated', but the theme isn't isn't 'unsupported' - you're just using an older version of the theme! Before actioning any of the suggestions below, I recommend going to 'Online Store > Themes' in your admin, hitting the '...' button next to your theme having the playback issue, and selecting the 'duplicate' option. This will create a copy of your theme as is for use in the future in case any troubleshooting causes any issues with your theme. 

Updating the Theme would be a good step here in regards to troubleshooting, or testing out a fresh version of the 'Dawn' theme in your store and loading the video into it would be a good step to try, too! If the video plays in a newly downloaded copy of Dawn then you can determine with a good amount of confidence that the issue with playback is related to them 14.3 theme. 

 

What I recommend is updating your theme, as well as trying to a freshly installed version of Dawn to see if that address the playback issue. If you continue to have issues with playback after updating your theme, and you're able to get the fresh theme to play the video without issue, reach out to our Support Team via our Help Center so we can get you authenticated and do some more in-depth troubleshooting.

I am realizing that I have Debut 14.3.1

 

I am a bit of a noob here, so please bear with me. 

Is Debut 14.3.1 no longer supported? It's looking like I have an outdated theme. Is that right?
