How can I add the product description to the featured product block of my Home page?

I would like to add the product description of a product to the featured product block of my home page (using the Ride theme).  From what I've gathered online in the community threads, in order to add the product description to the home page you can edit the code in featured-product.liquid which is the section block used to show your featured product on the Home page.  However, I'm unclear about exactly what code needs to be added and where it needs to be added in the featured-product.liquid specifically. 

Is there documentation that specifies what should be added to featured-product.liquid and where?  It would be helpful to understand how to figure this out using the documentation so I can become more self-sufficient.  Thanks in advance.
