@paule3 ,

You need to work on these points.

  • Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
  • Reduce JS Payload.
  • Use Critical CSS .
  • Reduce Large Image Sizes
  • Compress Images
  • Limit Third Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
  • Preload Web Fonts.
  • I would suggest limiting to one and using a standard web font.

By fixing these issues, your website speed score can definitely improve.

And we will provide an assured guarantee plan for the website speed optimization.

Hello @paule3,

A slow-loading website can reduce your conversions and profits. A fast-loading website is essential to welcome massive traffic to the website. In the case of eCommerce stores, speed and page loading time play a pivotal role in the success and growth of businesses. By following below steps, you can significantly speed up your Shopify store:

1. Removing unused app code is a best practice that avoids running code for unused features, and makes your theme code easier to read.
2. Use a theme which is optimized for performance
3. Replace GIFs with static images
4. Reduce the use of large-sized images and also compress images without losing the quality
5. If you are using slideshows, keep slideshows of featured images to 2-3 slides, or use one featured image.
6. Use a System font which is a font that is already installed on most computers. For example: Segoe UI, Times New Roman. If you use a font that does not yet exist on your customer's computer, then the font has to be downloaded before your text can be displayed. This impacts the time that your store takes to load.
7. Themes contain CSS, JS, HTML which can increase and affect your store speed. So disable theme features you don't use.
8. Use minified CSS and JS files
9. Loading extra data your customers aren't using can impact your store speed without adding value.
10. To reduce the initial load time, you can use Lazyload technique
11. Remove third-party JS scripts and Shopify App which you are no longer using
12. Minimize HTTP requests
13. Avoid unnecessary redirects and fix broken links

If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, 40% of your traffic will be lost. Apart from speeding up your store, for getting better conversions, make sure your store products are Found on Google. When your customers search on Google, your product can be found only if your page is indexed. Note that once a URL gets indexed, customers will start finding your store through organic searches, you will start getting order conversions for virtually zero cost. @paule3  exact load time will depend on the speed of the user's connection + the optimization level of your theme + the 3rd party apps you're using (and their server speed at the time the user selects).

To reach under 2 seconds or score higher with that tool it's possible you'll have to uninstall apps. For that reason I wouldn't set exact goals on load speed, rather, I would optimize your site as much as you can without compromising the user experience.

Here's our tried and true method for Shopify optimization (my team speedboostr.com has optimized over 1500+ Shopify sites and contributes lots of guides / case studies / tools for Shopify stores):

1) Take care of the standard optimizations that are relevant for Shopify sites using the Shopify Analyzer. Using a general tool like Google PSI will add a bunch of extra noise, for example it will tell you to reduce extra code and eliminate render blocking resources. While that's good advice in general, if you're using a template system + 3rd party apps you don't control, solving those warnings may cost you big in development cost for little actual benefit.

2) Once you've handled those optimizations, look into techniques that tools don't ready pick up, like app optimization and preloading. Here are 2 guides for diving into those:

- App Optimization Guide for Shopify

- How to Use Preloading Tactics for Faster Loading Shopify Pages

An often overlooked method is conditionally loading apps, meaning only load the app code where it's needed. That app optimization guide explains that.

If you need help from professional Shopify developers focused in performance optimization feel free to reach out to my team at speedboostr.com/contact.

Lastly, beware of the previous poster "OSC Professional", they're an unethical company that commits copyright infringement and breaks Shopify terms of service (https://speedboostr.com/fraudulent-shopify-partners), could be risky to give them access to your business.

I would check out the free Shopify Analyzer tool I linked above + our free guides, try to do what you can in-house then hire a professional for the more difficult stuff.
