Hi Team and everyone else!
Since the latest update (thanks btw, looking good) all the products that have multiple variants are no longer alphabetized.
I can see they are in order in the system, but the POS is mixing it up and can't figure out why or how to change this.
Collections have the option to order in Best selling, date or name. But a product with 36 variants does not have such an option.
Am I missing something?
Can this be fixed? So it uses the order I set in the system and not something random (is how it looks now tbh).
Thanks in advance 😃
John

Got this encouraging reply from Shopify support:
”I can confirm that our engineers have identified the cause of the issue where variants are not displaying in the correct order. This has been fixed in Shopify POS app version 8.6.0 which is expected to be released sometime in early April.
Keep a close eye on available app updates for your iPad, and once you update to 8.6.0, the variants will be in the same order as the admin once again.”
Same issue here... Since yesterday (3/2/23), our product variants are now displayed in a different order in PoS versus the order they are configured in the admin. We've already had staff ringing up wrong variants as a result.
Modifying the variant order in the admin works for the online storefront but the broken PoS ordering doesn't change. Also tried exporting/re-importing the products. No luck.
Hoping we can get some input on this.
Thanks,
Rob
Same here. Its been about a week this is happening. Glad to know we aren't the only ones!
Hopefully we get a fix on this soon.
Experiencing same issue, very confusing for staff.
I am having the same issue with my one product with 56 variants.
I contacted Shopify Support and this is their response;
"I got an update that there is a known issue with products not being organised in the right order. This is something our developers are aware of and are hoping to have out in one of our upcoming updates.
You can use ☰ > Support > Report a Bug and so we can keep track of the issue."
I highly recommend everyone do the "Report a Bug" on your POS app mentioned in their response so they can track and prioritize this issue.

Same issue here. Not really encouraging to hear they are "hoping" to have a fix in "one of" the upcoming updates. Thanks for instilling confidence in your company, Shopify.
This is a massively confusing problem, especially during busy shows. This isn't a minor annoyance. It also just seems like incompetence to have something so basic not work. All these grandiose updates they put out about all these fancy new features that 1% of their customers might use, but basic functionality just withers away. /rant
Reported the bug via the feedback in the app.

It's now a current issue again. using 9.22.1 - according to my system I have the latest update. This has been an issue for at least a month, possibly 2 months. For a yarn shop with multiple dye lots of a single variant, this is messy.
Hi!
Did anyone update to 8.6.0 and saw an improvement? We did and we're still seeing the same issue. We have a ton of variants and everytime we do a transaction the variants keep changing in order. I've submitted a bug report.
Thanks!
@EfaW I just updated on the phone and it appears to be fixed for me. Maybe try force-quitting the app? I didn't have to do anything but update the app.
Happy to be eating crow on this one, Shopify got this recognized and taken care of fast. Much appreciated!
@EfaW so I just updated the iPad app to 8.6.0 and can confirm that variants for some of the items are not being ordered properly. Both devices had multiple products with variant order issues (can’t recall if same items/order). Updating iPhone, no longer see issues. But 1 product on iPad is still having the issue and it appears to be the same (incorrect) order as before the 8.6.0 update.
So yeah this issue is definitely not fixed, at least not on iPad version of the app.
