How can I disable "order confirmation" email/notification?

I have klaviya set up for my email flows and really want to disable or turn off the order confirmation that is sent out by Shopify as default.

Can anyone please assist me?

Hi @mxssoudd,

 

While some notifications sent from Shopify can be disabled or only used when you want them to be sent, such as shipment confirmation notifications, it is not possible to disable the automated order confirmation emails sent by Shopify when a customer completes their checkout on your store. These notifications may serve as the only receipt the customer has of their online purchase and disabling the default order notification email is therefore not permitted.

 

To avoid multiple notifications being sent, you would need to disable the one sent from Klaviyo instead. Please bear in mind that the default order notification sent by Shopify can be edited and customized, so if you do not like the look or appearance of this notification, you have the ability to make changes.

What about shipment confirmation emails? I didn't see where those can be turned off. Is there a knowledge base that exists that shows which emails need to come from Shopify and which emails can be configured in Klaviyo via Shopify integration?

Hi @llckll,

 

You will have the option to send shipping confirmation emails when you fulfill an order, and if you do not wish for Shopify to send one, simply leave this option unchecked when manually fulfilling an order:

You'll also see the option to send a shipping confirmation email when fulilling an order via the purchase of a shipping label:

Uncheck this option if you do not want a shipment notification to be sent to your customer.

 

If you have automatic fulfillment enabled in Settings > Checkouts and accounts, you'll want to ensure that the "Notify customers of their shipment" option is unchecked if you don't want shipping emails going out to the customer:

Disabling the original shipping confirmation email will also disable other shipping emails from going out, such as the out for delivery and shipment delivered notifications.

 

The order notification email cannot be disabled and is sent to the customer as soon as they complete checkout. Your customers will also receive other notifications if you perform certain actions, such as cancelling or refunding. You can head to the Notifications section of your admin's settings to see a list of all notifications and explanations on when they are sent.

Which notification are you wanting to disable? Please note that the order confirmation notification cannot be disabled, and I have outlined how to disable shipping notifications in my previous post. More information about notifications can be found on our Help Center.

Hi, we have subscribed to shopify plus and are currently migrating our residual data from our previous platform and with every order migration our customers are getting order confirmation emails. Any way to momentarily stop this notification while the migration is ongoing? Please suggest a way forward.

How are you importing your residual data? If you're importing it via an App like Matrixify, that will default to not notify customers. Specifically for Matrixify, the Send Receipt column value is FALSE, which will not notify the customer when the order imports.  If you are using the API, be sure that you pass the value of 'send_receipt' as 'false'. 

I don't believe you are able to not notify the customer if you are doing this work manually, if you are, I'd suggest trying Matrixify's free plan which can import 10 orders at a time from a csv/excel file.
