Re: Featured Blog Posts

Solved

How can I feature specific blog posts on the homepage?

Hello!

I'm just wondering if there's any workaround available in order to feature a specific blog post in another part of the site? I'm currently working with a design where there's a requirement to display specific blog posts on the homepage (i.e not the most recent, but a custom selection) and wondered if there's any way in which this can be achieved.

I've read some similar threads on the forum which seem to come close to this but ultimately result in the display of blog posts depending on how recently they've been added/edited, as opposed to being a curated selection. Similarly, I couldn't find a whole lot to refer to when Googling around the subject, so if anybody is able to shed any light on this at all then I'd be hugely grateful!

Many thanks!

Sam

Hey @samwatts1988.

Thanks for the quick response and context!

In this case, I would recommend following our Create a theme developer document as well as our featured blog posts liquid code example. Since I do not direct access to the online store or coding of the theme, I am unable to look into the specifics.

With that being said, you could potentially reach out to our Partner support to gain further support to implement this to your theme.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

Hey @samwatts1988.

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! Could you let us know which theme you are using on your online store?

If you are unsure about which theme is live on your store, you can navigate to the Theme Editor and select the three dots that are appearing towards the top left of the page. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to:

Looking forward to your response.

Hey Ollie!

Thanks for coming back to me on this.

I'm developing a custom theme using Liquid/the docs, so I'm not using a prebuilt theme. I'm basically trying to figure out if there's a way to code the required functionality  at all - do you know if these feasible or whether or not there are any workarounds at all?

Thanks again!

Sam

Hi there,

Were you able to get the proposed solution to work? I followed the steps in  "featured blog posts liquid code example" . But it doesn't mention how to reference the featured-blog.liquid in the "blog posts" section. Also, the "blog posts" section only allows me to display 2 blog posts at the minimum. It doesn't allow for 1, which doesn't allow to display one feature blog. Any suggestions would be appreciated,
