Hi there! I noticed that an app we deleted months back is causing a huge drain on our speed as the code is still there. Would anyone know where I can locate the following so I can delete? Thank you!!

1. Download this Google Chrome Extension: (you need to use Google Chrome): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shopify-theme-file-search/mhchmhfecfdpaifljcfebnlaiaphfkmb
2. In your Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Edit Code
3. In the new box that appears with the extension (top right corner) search for yotpo (make sure to tick the "regex" checkbox)

4. Delete the line of code containing "yotpo" from the files that show up. I'd guess that most of them should be coming up from theme.liquid

I'd suggest contacting the Yotpo team and asking whether there is an "uninstall" procedure though, it would be more advisable.

Kind regards,
Diego

Hello @honeybug,

The best way is to contact the yotpo app support team and get their help.

If it didn't work then you want to do a little investigation to find where the app code is added.

You can try some Google Chrome extensions like https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shopify-theme-search-by-b/epbnmkionkpliaiogpemfkclmcnbdfle... to search for the word "yotpo" in the theme files. Once you find the files containing the code, take a backup of the file and then delete the app code.

Hope this was helpful,

@honeybug ,

Apps can have a significant performance impact on the stores they are installed. First of all,  I am not trying to say that you shouldn’t install apps on your store.

  • use fewer applications on your Shopify store. Use such APIs for the Apps.
  • use cookies without an app.

Some code can be removed or reordered to improve your online store's performance. If you're not using an app, then you can remove it.

If you're removing an app, then consider removing code that was added as part of the app install process. Some apps help you with this process by wrapping their code in {% comment %} tags that mention the app name. Removing unused app code is a best practice that avoids running code for unused features, and makes your theme code easier to read.

You have to search the js file that you have included in your theme.

If you have coding knowledge then you can find it in the theme. liquid or other files.

Also you can check with App support, or let us know your details.
