How can I fix the 'something went wrong' error with the Klarna Express button?

I'm trying to integrate the Klarna Express button on a site. So far I have gotten it to show up, but when I click it, their popup window comes up and says "Sorry, something went wrong." with no further info. Has anybody else done/experienced this? I don't see any errors in the console on the main window or the popup window (not a modal, a whole new window).

Klarna Express button is not currently available as a configurable feature (without custom code) for Shopify merchants.  Hopefully someday Klarna will be an accelerated checkout (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/accelerated-checkouts) available in Shopify.

For custom code, please note that each Klarna production merchant id requires individual Allowlisting, per: https://docs.klarna.com/express-button/before-you-start/#allowlisting

Hi @KristiAtKlarna - so, just to clarify - the button IS available if I do some custom code? From my conversations with other devs it seems that is not the case, but I just wanted to be sure before telling the client!

I'm sorry that I can't confirm if this could work or not with custom code.  While Klarna is certainly pursuing this with Shopify, we'd be going the path supported & recommend by Shopify (accelerated checkout), not custom code, so we haven't proved out that option either way.

Shopify has expanded what is technically possible for customizations over the past few years.  I at least wanted to call out the Allowlisting item to help if you are trying the custom code route.

Hi! Did you figure it out with custom code? I'm trying to do the same thing. Really frustrating that Shopify doesn't allow Klarna as an accelerated checkout... Would be so good for improving conversions.
