How can I further increase my mobile store speed?

I had a very low store speed of 33. I took the time to optimize my photos and product photos on my store and my store speed increased to only 38. What more can I do to boost my store's speed? it seems to be doing fine on desktop browsers but most of my customers access my store via mobile device and thats where the issue lies. Can I get some input on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance Shopify team,

Hi @premiumfature,

Thanks for getting in touch. The loading speed of your site is of course of vital importance, and we offer information on our Help Center that outlines how you can optimize your online store to be as fast as possible. Optimizing your photos is a good first step to take, but you'll also want to focus on the number of apps running on your store and the theme you are using.

Apps installed on your store will add code into your theme so that they can run, and if you have numerous apps installed that run simultaneously then you do run the risk of your store's speed suffering as result. You'll want to find a balance between increasing your site's speed while still offering the features you want that are only available via apps, and this process may take some trial and error.

In terms of your theme, it's important to use an official theme available on the Shopify Theme Store that is developed either by Shopify or an approved third-party developer. All themes made available on the Theme Store are subject to quality standards that ensure they are built to run as smoothly and load as fast as possible. Which theme are you currently using on the storefront?

Hi @premiumfature , Here are a Few things you can do to improve store speed on Mobile -
1- Make sure all images on website are in Webp format, you can use this free tool convert them - https://web-tools.online/convert-images/convert-avif
2- Remove all unused app - Apps can load js and css files of their own, so remove any unused all.
3- Implement Lazy Loading - this makes images load on scroll so initial page load speed is faster.
4- Fix render blocking issues - This would mean making sure your website doesn't load scripts one after another or stop loading further elements until first certain scripts load.
5- implement defer and preloading elements, this makes sure that scripts start loading in sync.

You can use https://websitespeedy.com to implement lazy loading and to fix render blocking issues automatically.

Thanks,
Ishan

you can compress you images or convert them into lighter formats.. for example you can change you png and jpeg images to webp images.. as webp images are fast and light. this will help accelerate you website speed. you can convert your png or jpg images to webp  using online file converters.

You're not alone in this, I have paid (quiet a lot!) to various 'shopify experts' to speed up the page loading of my site, The Solid Bar Company

But none have made any tangible/noticeable difference to load times. Each time I get the same 'suggestion' such as resize images, remove unnecessary apps, reduce unused JavaScript, defer loading scripts, minifying JavaScript files, reduce unused CSS etc.

All of this has been completed (allegedly) as much as the shopify hosting will allow, but still slow loads.

What I have noticed - and have been told this has no bearing, but it clearly has - if I use a test server location in Canada I can get a page fully loaded time of 2.3 seconds, but if I use a test server location in the UK (where my customer base is) the best I can get for a page fully loaded time is of just over a second slower at 3.5 seconds.

Despite being told that shopify uses a large network of Content Delivery Networks’ (CDNs) around the world to host merchants’ online stores, and they promise that all stores can be loaded as quickly as possible, wherever customers are based, this seems not to be the case here.

Furthermore, as a hosted platform, rather than the traditional self-hosted platform, you don’t get access to the full code base so further 'speed tweaks' are out of the customer's hands completely.

So do I put up with the pluses of Shopify in light of this? Thoughts?
