How can I improve my site's speed. It says it's a 49 and I know it should be faster.

I looked at lighthouse by google but do not know how to make the various changes.  Any help would be appreciated.  My website is marilyns.gift. Thank you.

49 is actually a pretty good site speed score and unless there are no major delays with your store then I would suggest it's all good. However, if you wanted to invest some time and make it better there is lots of great resources from Shopify on how to do so. Let's take a look at them below:

You mentioned about implementing some changes via lighthouse but weren't sure how. If you're not sure and still wanted some help outside of the guides above, I'd recommend reaching out to a Shopify Expert for some assistance.

Speed of a website is a very important part of business because it affects sales. So it is very important if you choose an optimized theme that increases your website or store speed. In shopify many themes are generally well optimized and no need to do more work for optimization.

On which theme you are working for?

Need to work on following points 

• Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
• Reduce JS Payload.
• Use Critical CSS .
• Reduce Large Image Sizes
• Compress Images
• Limit Third Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
• Preload Web Fonts. 
• I would suggest limiting to one and using a standard web font.
