There are a few optimizations we recommend when trying to improve your website's speed.

They include:

• True lazy loading (a lot of themes include placeholder lazy loading). We have an in-depth article on lazy loading: Lazy Loading on Shopify.
• Image optimization, which includes compressing oversized images and displaying them at optimal sizes.
• Minify JavaScript and CSS files so that they execute faster.
• Reduce installed apps. Apps play a large role in overall performance, so it's best to only keep essential ones installed. It's also worth noting that even after uninstalling an app, the code could still remain in your theme. We recommend going through your code after uninstalled apps the ensure they've been fully removed.

Those are some of the main optimizations we recommend that'll help improve performance. I recommend checking out our Online Store Speed help doc which covers why speed is important, online store features vs. speed, and how to explore your store speed. We also have a built-in online store speed checker that you can use to check your online store speed, and how you can improve it. You can check it out here on your store.

Here’s a screenshot of what this looks like from my test store:

(My test store has a lot of features on it, so the online store speed will be much lower, as any features added to your store (such as apps), needs network and hardware resources to function and some will need more resources than others.)
