How can I improve the speed score on my product pages?

Hi Guys and Girls and thanks anticipated for your help, Im preparing the best version of my website but im fighting with a problem on product pages...I dont understand why on homepage of the website( where I have more sections I have the speedscore on lighthouse 58 ,which is ok) ,but on a product page that I was having 70 ,now I have 35.. I tried to change the product template but nothing..I also made the product template a lot easier than it was( I mean with small number of sections) but the score is still doesnt changing...Please help me ,I need to achieve good scores..I let you there some screenshots,maybe the screenshots can help you 🙂 Thanks! I let you there the 5 photos, 2 from homepage report(59 speedscore) , 2 from productpage(37 speedscore) ,and one more with the problem I think is causing it( the google tag manager)

Hi Sao,

I'll help coach you through a step-by-step process of how clean up your Google Core Vitals and speed up your website.

1. Step One - You'll notice from the site speed report indicators highlighted in red that you need to "Reduce Unused JavaScript and Minify JavaScript". This means that the current theme and some of the plugins you're using are slowing down the site speed load time. Get rid of your current theme and swap it out for a simple, clean theme that loads quickly. When choosing a Shopify theme for your store, naturally, you want one that's well-designed, customizable, and easy to navigate. But have you must consider site speed load time.  
2. Step Two - delete all plugins that you're not actually using. The more plugins you use on your website, the slower your site speed load time will be. 
3. Step Three - notice the red indicators telling you that site images need to be in a different format. To fix this problem, go to your favorite search engine and find a free image converter. Type in the search phrase, "best free image converter online".  Convert all JPEGs, GIFs, BMP, TIFF and PNG image formats to WebP.

The types of images you use affect your site speed load time. In fact, mobile device users will leave your website if your site pages fail to load within 4 to 7 seconds. You have to fix these issues, or you'll lose customers because they'll get frustrated and impatient waiting on your website to load.

Thanks for the free advices you give me Mrs. Kevin James, I really appreciate it 🙂 .I wanna tell you that right now im updating again the theme,so the theme will still be empire ,but It s a clean one version,since im just moving only all my customizations..When I was making it like this I get the speedscore 60+ at product pages, now ,after I simplified a lot the template of the same product page Im still getting on it the speed of 35 maximum and I don t understand why? Something is bugging my page..I unistall already Google analytics,tag manager, because I ve seen on the report some big time loading from google tag manager, but I still get bad speedscore.. 😞

No problem. I strongly recommended converting all of your website images to into .Webp format. In other words,

• Go to your desktop computer or laptop and open up the folder where all of those website images are saved.
• Perform a Google search for a free image converter. For example, 'convert jpg to .webp \\\ convert .png to .webp \\\ convert .gif to .webp.
• There are FREE bulk image conversion tools. Convert your images to a .webp format --- then, replace your large image files with the new .webp images.

I'm going to guide you step-by-step on how to quickly fix these issues. These helpful tips will dramatically boost your website load times and improve your Google Core Web Vitals. Boosting your website load time is very important. If mobile device users get frustrated waiting for web pages to load --- they will abandon your website and may never return. You'll end up losing sales regardless of how 'pretty' your website looks.

Let's get to work.

1. STEP ONE - Your first screenshot shows us data from a Google Light Speed audit of your website. The problem is highlighted in RED. Third-party code is slowing down your website. That means you need to locate and [deactivate the third-party plugin] causing the problem. Get rid of the Google Tag Manager code (for now).
2. STEP TWO - "Reduce Unused JavaScript".You will need to edit some code inside of your Shopify Theme. Before you do tamper with your Shopify theme ALWAYS make a backup of that theme first. ALWAYS! This way, if you make a terrible mistake you'll have a clean backup of your website. You'll be able to restore your website easily and quickly.
3. Next, click the RED arrow/drop down button shown in your Google Lighthouse dashboard. Google is telling the exact file name of the JavaScript file causing the problem. Cut and paste the name of that file to save it in a Word document (to remember it). In a few minutes, you're about to delete the problem. Here's how you do it;

• From inside of your Shopify admin dashboard, scroll to the "Online Store" tab>, click "Themes" >, then click, "Edit Code".
• On the left side of your panel, you will see a list of files and folders. Look for a folder named "Assets" and click to open it.
• Inside your "Assets" folder, you should see a list of JavaScript files.
• Look for the file identified by Google as the problem and delete it. *You can minimize the JavaScript files to reduce their size by using a free JavaScript minified. Do a Google Search for a JavaScript Minifier. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Just ignore it for now.
• Click "Save Changes" and refresh your website.

Finally, perform a fresh Google Lighthouse audit of your website. The score will have substantially improved. We can handle the other issues step-by-step after you complete this task.

Mrs. Kevin James , but I still can t understand ,so I ve tested right now again the speedscore on the theme that I will finish updating it with an friend (is working on my project, I say friend because it is like a friend for me,im from romania he is from mexic, I pay him for this I mean) ,so on that theme he is working I ve published it now only for testing and im getting this bad score on those things..
