How can I incorporate an image slider into the Dawn theme?

Dawn doesn't have this function. You'll need to implement it by yourself. Since it's a complex task, we can implement that for you, feel free to contact us. (But keep in mind that Carousels are not recommended)

Why Carousels are a bad idea:

But it's been documented that Carousels (Image sliders) are ineffective at converting site visitors, annoying and are slowing down your website and are bad for SEO.

Common issues include:

• Only a small percentage of site visitors actually click on a slide .
• Content goes unread because readers are not clicking through the whole slider and will skim through the carousel content.
• Confuse people by offering multiple items at the same time.
• Easily ignored as being misinterpreted as an ad banner.
• Slow your site and negatively impact SEO and conversion rate with site visitors.
• Don’t always work well on mobile devices.
• Sometimes annoy users when the carousel content starts sliding to quickly.

Hi , I read the first articule, it seems good logic. However ecommerce sites like amazon, mercado Libre almost all the big brands use carrousell. I think they have mucho more data and information than anyone else so I THINK CARROUSEL WORK .

I think you should seriously rethink you desire for a slider. All user studies show that it really isn't good.

Do you do it to impress someone - or to sell more? If your focus is on selling drop the slider

It's not rare to find carousels/slideshows having a bad rep between designers and developers, however, the truth of the matter is that: depending on one's business and if used properly, it will help with sales. Amazon, Aliexpress, other giants & the top selling premium Shopify themes are using carousels for a reason.

The same way most apps on the Shopify are bloated with unnecessary code and slowing down one's website, well... in the end of the day they're being used because they are fixing a problem and converting visitors to customers.

This should be the end goal of any sort of coding in e-commerce.

Should they be improved, more performative and challenged? Absolutely. But, yet again, the end goal is having tools that help merchants to sell. And carousels can offer that if used wisely. Google itself offers suggestions for good/bad carousels in terms of UX, which subsequently will help with conversions.

With that said, you can add a carousel to the Dawn theme installing a pre-made carousel section like this. Alternatively, depending on your needs, you may want to contact a Shopify developer to help you coding a personalized solution.

If you are looking for a slider or carousel in the home page, this is possible with Dawn Theme for free. No subscription or app needed. Check the video. The code link is in the video description

The code is both. You can have a card or product slider. A card has an image and description into it. You can check the video to see what I am talking about

Dawn theme added an slideshow already. The slideshow I have is just for people who wants 11 custom designs in there slideshow. Please check your Dawn theme for slideshow option

Have you checked this Slideshow yet? It's a simple copy/paste slideshow section compatible with all themes, including Dawn.

Its major advantage is that it has an option to not cut images off, which is something that (as of yet) no other theme's slideshow has. Also it comes with 50+ customization options, which gives you freedom to adapt and customize it to your wish.

I am afraid the statement you made to @QCD and @SM786  is incorrect. Our Slideshow does support 100% full width images. It also works out of the box on Dawn and all the other OS 2.0 themes.

For any one who is seeing this post.....Please under stand this.

There are several option to Product display on Shopify. 

1. A Product can have multiple images. These images can display below main image in a slider like that of amazon etc.

2. A Product can have multiple variant and each variant will have its single image.

If we go for Option 1 above, we can display product slider like that of Amazon. Yes ! You can do this very well in Dawn theme just be selecting Thumbnail carrousel option in Product page customisation.

If we go for Option 2 above, we will not have any slider on Shopify product page like that of amazon. But when different product variant is selected, associated different image will display e.g. you must have seen such product on amazon e.g. at 27" monitor. When you go to the product page, you will see that it has option for 22" monitor also built on that page. That is product variant. Amazon is special in which when you change product variant, it loads associated image of that variant also. On shopify, this will require custom coding and I am already working this to make it happen.
