Discuss and resolve questions on Liquid, JavaScript, themes, sales channels, and site speed enhancements.
Hi, I've been checking my page speed insights to increase the speed of my Shopify store and one of the main things it suggests is to minimize main-thread work (see screenshot below). Can I resolve this myself with a basic understanding of code? Or do I need to hire someone to fix this?
If you have some basic understanding of code, then you can certainly learn how to resolve it, but that will take some time and effort. if you'd rather not deal with any of that, then you're better off hiring somebody to do it for you.
Hi John,
Thanks for this, I'd love to learn if possible, do you have any suggestions on resources I could look at to lead me in the right direction?
Yes, YouTube. You can learn lot from the tutorials, just make sure you practice what you learn from each video.
Here are 2 channels I think are pretty good for learning Shopify liquid coding:
https://www.youtube.com/@EdCodes
https://www.youtube.com/@codingwithrobby
Another thing you could do is read some of the coding related questions on here (the Shopify Community) and look up how to solve them. That'll give you min-projects to work on which is a great way to learn to code.
Hope that helps.
This is great, thank you so much John!
You bet.
