Hey, @rickrenders.

Thanks for reaching out and posting this question!

I understand that you're looking to edit the index page on your blogs. You can start by creating a blog post through the Blogs posts section of the Online store. While you wouldn't be able to edit the index or structure of the URL, you can create additional categories for your blogs and generate a different suffix in the URL (eg. store.com/blogs/new). To do this, simply click on Manage blogs and you can add more blogs. Once that's done, you can also review the menus and links of your Online store and add the blogs to the Navigation.

I didn't have any luck finding your store using the URL shown in your screenshot. However, I'd love to hear more about your business and share some resources to help you get started. What kinds of products are you selling? Do you have a marketing plan prepared for your store?

Hey, @rickrenders.

Thanks for following up!

I've taken a look at the theme (eg. Dawn) in my test store and it looks like the URL (store.com/blogs) also lands on a 404 Page not found. However, since I have a blog created and added to my navigation, the landing page for my blog looks like this:

21-09-38k5b-y5fd4

I understand that you'd like to edit the index page (store.com/blogs) and it may be possible to create this page through custom coding. However, as this level of customization falls outside the scope of our design policy, you can consider hiring a developer to assist you with this task or you can try using a page builder. Should you need help finding a developer, then we'd recommend taking a look at our directory of certified developers on Shopify Experts.

If you have any other questions, then don't hesitate to let me know!

Thank you very much Elias for your quick response.

I find it very astonishing that shopify built something very simple and normal. But can´t be used by a normal user.

The same goes for that tags can´t be used anymore for categorise your blogs so customers can easily filter through your blogs.

Shopify offers the tags but they are unable to use without someone code a filter or buy an expensive app. Same goes for the /blog why provide it and don't offer the solution where it's used for.

Very confused about this.

How much you think this will gonna cost me, if I hire a developer?

Or there is no simple code to make this happen?

Thank you very much for you time and help.

Hey, @rickrenders.

The cost of hiring a developer will vary based on the partner or company as they may not be charging the same rates. That being said, while I didn't have any luck finding a simple code for this, you can take a look at some of the insights and workarounds offered by the Shopify Community on this topic.

Alternatively, you can also consider linking an external blog to your store by using a third-party platform, such as Wordpress, Tumblr, or Blogger. While this still doesn't help with editing or accessing the blogs index page, this may provide you with more blog-focused features and design elements.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey, @rickrenders.

Thank you for following up and sharing the screenshots.

Based on the screenshots, it looks like you're trying to set up additional templates for the homepage. However, as indicated on our guide, Create a new template, the supported template types include collections, products, blogs, blogs posts, and pages.

If you're trying to create separate templates for language purposes on the homepage, then most merchants will use the language editor to translate one additional language or a translation app for multiple languages. However, if you prefer creating separate templates for the homepage, then you would need to consider hiring a developer to assist you with this. Should you need help finding a developer, then we'd recommend taking a look at our directory of certified developers on Shopify Partners

Dear Elias,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

So all the correct pages in the Netherlands store for example:

rickrenders_0-1696970233561.png

rickrenders_1-1696970263525.png

So all my correct pages are build in Netherlands. This is the only one I need.

How can I be sure this is the only one active, and delete the rest?

Hope to hear from you,

Hey, @rickrenders.

Thanks again for following up.

If you only want one region or language, then you can simply customize the default homepage template and replicate the content that you have created for Netherlands. As mentioned in my last response, the supported types for creating a new template are collections, products, blogs, and pages. So if you're looking to use a different homepage template, then you'll need to consider hiring a developer in order to explore custom coding and modifying your theme.

Let me know if you've any other questions!

Hey, @rickrenders.

The page indexing on Google Search Console and Google PageSpeed insights evaluates a website such as a Shopify store and creates a list of opportunities for optimization. While the advice can be useful for shops that are slow to render, there are certain components that cannot be altered (eg. render blocking and minified files). Optimize image warnings should absolutely be attended to, but render blocking javascript, minify javascript, and minify html sections can be considered recommendations. These factors do not impair the speed and functionality of your site significantly in practice. For example, render-blocking javascript is in reference to javascript that runs before the rest of the page begins to load, the way we handle and serve these scripts makes it not so much of an issue for us. This is just something Google sees, not something it has diagnosed.

That being said, if you'd like to learn more about indexing on Shopify, then you can take a look at our guide on improving search engine optimization. Or, if you'd like to learn more about the factors you can control to improve the speed of your store, then we'd recommend taking a look at our guide on improving your online store speed.

If you have any other questions on this topic, then don't hesitate to get back to me here. However, if you have a different question, then please create a new post so that it can be categorized properly and provide value for other members in the community. Cheers!
