Hello! I'm new to Shopify and still learning how to set things up. I have my URL set to the name of my original shop, but I decided to change the name of my shop and I can't seem to change the URL. I've already gone into the settings to change the name of my shop, and I looked under domains to see if I could change it that way. All I can find is how to purchase a domain. I don't mind that it has the ".myshopify.com" at the end, but I obviously want it to start with my store's actual name, not the previous name. I even tried to purchase a new domain but nothing happened. I'd like to change it for free if possible.
It's currently https://lesbellesfleurscreations.myshopify.com
I'd like it to be https://fourwindsdesigns.myshopify.com
sorry for that issue can you please check here Shopify URL
When I click "Domains" my only options are to connect an existing domain or buy a new one.
I'm just going around in circles clicking on links that bring me back to the same pages over and over.
just change name
Yeah I already did that... I said that in the original post. I'm just cancelling my subscription and joining something else, you'd think for $30/month you'd be able to actually contact customer service...
Hi @Eliza-111
If you want to change the URL of your store, you have to buy a new domain and set it as a primary domain.
You could refer to this video and help doc that will walk you step by step through know to buy a new domain.
After buying a domain, you have to verify that your domain has a Connected status on the Domains page in your Shopify admin. It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be connected.
To change your primary domain, please follow the steps below:
After you change your primary domain, the new primary domain is displayed to customers who visit your online store.
I hope this answer will help you.
Hi, @Eliza-111!
I'm sorry to hear about your issue, and I'm happy to share some more information with you.
You are unable to change your .myshopify.com URL. This is because your .myshopify.com URL is used as a unique identifier for your store/account in our system. If you wanted to change the URL that your customers see, you would need to add a custom domain. Adding a custom domain is recommended regardless, because it helps you establish your brand and build trust in your online store. You can purchase a domain directly from your Shopify admin, or transfer/connect a third party domain. Check out this help document for those steps and more information! Once you add a custom domain to your store, your customers will not see your old .myshopify.com URL, and will only see your new store name. If you didn't want to purchase a custom domain, you could start another Shopify store and enter in the correct name for your .myshopify.com URL.
I know you mentioned not being able to get in touch with our customer service team, and I can definitely provide you more information on that. You can, in fact, contact our live Support team through the Help Center. We're available 24/7 by live chat, callback, and email! Here are the steps to make it easier:
You'll then be connected with a member of our live Support team who can answer any of your questions about your account.
I hope this information helps, and please let me know if you have any more questions!
