How can I permanently hide the admin bar on a new page?

Hello all,

I hope that I am not alone in my concern.
It bothers me a lot that the admin bar reappears every time I open a new page. If I close it via the X it is gone, but if I change the page, e.g. call another collection, it is there again.
Wouldn't it be possible to save the closing in a cookie to prevent the bar from appearing again and again?
The bar can be called up again at any time by clicking on the bag icon. So it is unnecessary that it appears every time anew.

Hey, @Timo_Krause! Welcome to Shopify Community!

You are correct. When you close and click "x" on the admin bar, it's automatically minimized into a Shopify logo on the lower left-hand side of your website, just like what we can see in the screenshot from a test store below.

When you close it once, it normally doesn't expand into a bar again when you go to another page, unless you click the Shopify logo. Since the bar is reappearing for you on every page you open, it's highly likely you're encountering a local issue. Local issues are triggered by something on your device or your surrounding circumstances and they can be fixed by local troubleshooting. To pinpoint the cause and attempt to fix the error, let's perform some local troubleshooting steps. Please go through the steps below, then try to view your website after each step, to see if any of these resolve the problem.

  • Clear the cookies and cache of your browser. After this, completely reboot the browser.
  • Try a different web browser, as well as an incognito window or private browsing window to rule out any browser issues. When using incognito, if you are still experiencing the error, confirm you have disabled browser extensions as these can change how the pages look.
  • Ensure the web browser is up to date on the latest version.
  • Try another device, such as another computer or mobile phone.
  • Try another internet connection (switching to a cellular network on a phone rather than wifi, for example).
  • Ensure you do not have any firewalls or pop-up blockers enabled on your device as these can interfere.

Are you still building your store? If you are, while you work towards your launch, it's a great idea to refer to our launch checklist. Using the checklist as a guide is a surefire way to ensure you don't forget to set up any crucial elements of your website that are needed for a successful opening day. It will take you through different pages, from adding sales channels to setting up your billing information. If you're interested, you can access the checklist on this page.

Hello @Summer ,

thank you very much for your detailed answer.

I have implemented everything as described, but unfortunately without success, the admin bar continues to open on every page.I

Even in mobile browsers in incognito mode this is the case. I mention this because I definitely do not have any browser extensions installed here, nor can they be.

On desktop devices, it's the same as described. Delete cookies, clear cache, incognito ... all unfortunately did nothing, the admin bar is always reopened (see attached video).

Additionally, I tested this on two colleagues on other endpoints with their own Shopify accounts, but again, the admin bar keeps opening. This is all extremely strange.

Best regards,
Timo

I've got this exact same frustration, can we not have a setting in the admin area to permanently disable this bar?

As admins we ALWAYS have our admin areas open on a different tab so this bar is simply is pain and results in unnecessary clicks. For some it might be useful, hence why I ask we a simple setting could be implemented in admin to enable/disable this bar.

Open base.css and at the following line at the bottom:

#admin-bar-iframe{display:none!important;}

That's it.
