Hello . I bought a domain name for my website. I designed a website but after upgrading the plan package I lost it and the domain name I used. Only one website left that hasn't been designed and has the same domain name as when it was new

Hi, @Trangnguyen92. I'm happy to help you out with this! I just have a few questions to make sure I fully understand what's happening on your end so I give you accurate advice going forward.

  • Where did you purchase your domain? Was this through Shopify or a third party domain provider?
  • Can you tell me more about what you mean when you say you lost your website and the domain? For example, are you unable to log in to your account? Were you notified by Shopify about an issue with your account?
  • How many stores did you create, and how many are you hoping to continue with?

Once I have more information I can share more advice to help with this. This guide on domains can also help in the meantime.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hello . I will answer your questions. I bought the domain name at shopify. While trying to design a website, I accidentally created 5 websites. I have had 4 websites disabled, one of which is a website with the domain name . I'm left with a website without a . How do I get back the domain name used for this website? Thanks u

Hi, @Trangnguyen92. Thank you for getting back to me with that context!

If you purchased your domain through Shopify and it's currently connected to a Shopify store, you would need to either transfer that domain to a different Shopify store or transfer it to a third party domain provider, in order to use that domain with another shop. You can find the steps to transfer your domain to another Shopify store or another domain provider here. That being said, if you don't have access to your account these steps won't be possible for you to do.

Can you tell me more about why your account was blocked? For example, were you notified by Shopify over email about any issues with your account or any actions you need to take on your account? Depending on the reason why you can't access your account, you may be able to work on recovering the account that has the domain. Then, once you get back into the account you can transfer the domain to the shop you want to continue with, or you can just continue using the domain with the shop you recovered.

If you can't recover the shop on your own, you will need to speak with our support team through the Help Center so that we can review this with you in more detail. We can't see your account information over the Shopify Community, but if you speak with us through the page I shared we can review this with you in more detail to help further.

Also, since you opened multiple shops by accident, I recommend using this page to ensure all of your unused accounts are accounted for and fully closed. When you enter your email address on that page you'll receive an email at that address listing any stores associated with it. I recommend trying all of your email addresses to make sure you find all of the stores. If you find any stores that are still open, please close them by following these steps here.

I'm happy to help if you have any questions!
