How can I remove a specific discount code from order combinations?

Is there a way to remove a specific discount code from order discount combinations? For example for my code AFFTEST10, 5 order discounts are set to combine. I want to remove one so only 4 order discounts are set to combine. I want to remove HELLO10 specifically but keep the other 4. I’ve attached screenshots.

Hi, @ralive10. I'm happy to help you out with this!

You can manage how a discount combines with other discounts in your discount settings for that specific discount. For example, if you'd like to restrict your HELLO10 discount from combining with other discounts you'd want to go to the Discounts page in your Shopify admin, select HELLO10 to open its settings, and use the Combinations settings to set up which type of discounts it can be combined with.

Hi Erin,

Under Combinations I have “Order discounts” already checked. By default all 5 of my order discounts will be combined. My question is regarding the possibility of within those 5, removing 1 discount code. Please see my screenshots you will see what I mean. I want to remove only the last discount code “HELLO10” from the combination that is already set up under “AFFTEST10”.

Hi, @ralive10. Thanks for getting back to me!

As I mentioned, you will need to manage this for the specific discount you do not want to allow combinations for. If you do not want "HELLO10" to combine with "AFFTEST10" you would need to go to Discounts > Select "HELLO10" > and disable the Order discounts combination setting. If "Order discounts" is checked, that means you are allowing the discount to be combined with other order discounts you've created.

Happy to help if you have more questions!

Hi Erin,

Thanks for the quick reply. Under “HELLO10” I have other discounts that I still want to keep in the combination so unchecking the box wouldn’t work (because all will be removed). In this case I’d just want to remove “AFFTEST10” and keep the other 4. Below is a screenshot.

Hi, @ralive10. Thank you for explaining that context! Do you mind if I ask why you don't want these discounts to combine? I'm asking to see if I can think of a workaround or a different way to set up your discounts to accomplish what you're hoping to do.

At the moment it's not possible to manage discount combinations on an individual level like you described. For example, it's not possible to set up the discount "HELLO10" to combine with all order discounts except "AFFTEST10". You would have to either allow it to combine with all order discounts, or not combine with order discounts at all. On the other end, you could set up "AFFTEST10" to not combine with order discounts. This would prevent it from combining with "HELLO10". However, the issue would be the same since this would mean "AFFTEST10" would not be able to combine with any of your other order discounts.

I'm happy to pass on any feedback you have about this. You may also want to look into using a third party discounts app. A third party app may give you more of the functionality you're looking for. You can find a list of discount apps in the app store here.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have more questions about this!
