How can I renew my domain name while my store is paused?

I have paused my store for a while and don't expect to reopen it for a while. But I do want to keep my domain name so that it's still available when I come back. I can get into my account since it is lapsed, but I do want to maintain the domain name. How can I renew my name without opening store until later? Thank you for any help.

I'm glad to learn you're thinking of reopening your store in the future. Considering that, it's definitely a good idea to make sure you retain the ownership of the domain so you don't lose it when you decide to go back to selling.

Now, did you go on to the Pause and Build plan? If you did and you activated automatic renewal for your domain, your domain will automatically renew on the renewal date even if your store is paused and you don't log into it. Please make sure that automatic renewal is turned on so you don't encounter any issues with the domain ownership. We have steps on how to do that on this page.

If you deactivated your store and cancelled your subscription, the automatic domain renewal won't work so the best course of action is to transfer your domain to a different provider in order for you to be able to access the settings of the domain and renew it when it expires. Once you're ready to reopen your store, you can then simply connect the domain.
