Hello,
I would like my flat fee shipping to be displayed according to the customer postcode.
If a customer is in a UK area were the shipping fee is too expensive, I would like to return a message that says "sorry but we don't currently deliver in your area".
This would therefore be based on postcode exclusion. How can I achieve that?

Thank you for getting in touch with your question. The ability to set different shipping fees or restrict shipping based on a customer's postcode can be achieved via the use of an app, such as Postcode Shipping or Easy Shipping Restrictions. These apps allow you greater flexibility when it comes to setting more accurate shipping rates for different areas, and would allow you to prevent customers in certain areas of the UK from accessing cheaper shipping options if it is too costly for you to ship to these regions.

Thank you Victor. I wonder if you know when Shopify will put the proper areas for the UK? it is not one nation, it is a country made of united nations. Any update on this would be greatly appreciated 🙂

The UK cannot be split into individual shipping regions, unfortunately, which is a request many merchants based in the UK have asked for. Our development team are aware of this and are currently looking into splitting the UK shipping zone so merchants can differentiate between England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland etc when setting their shipping zones. I do not have any time estimate for when this change is due to be made but it is being investigated.

It's great that this change has now been made. However, it would be really great if there was a setting for Highlands and Islands under Scotland as shipping rates are 10 times more expensive to these areas and take twice as long.
In addition Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Scilly Isles are usually grouped with Highlands and Islands for shipping purposes as costs are significantly more.

If you want to restrict your shoppers or want to sell on a specific Postal or Zip code, you can download an app. I found an app that will help you control the shoppers and you can assign zip codes or postal codes based on the coverage of your business.
