How can I retrieve author information from the Product API?

Whenever a product is created or updated in my Shopify installation I need to validate the value of a metafield on the product.

For this I use a custom application that receives webhooks from Shopify.

When the validation of the metafield fails I need to send the Shopify admin user that created or updated the product an email. Unfortunately the Product API doesn't seem to include the "author" information.

Any clue on how to handle this use case?
